It was a great honor to commission Mollye Maxner to create Occupied Territories. The path from initial inquiry to opening night was a journey of peeling back layer after layer to reveal truth, beauty, and vulnerability. It’s challenging and thrilling journey led to a piece of theater that surprised me and is like no other I have seen. Mollye’s constant inquiry to ask the dangerous questions that are at our core is embedded in every moment and every breath of this magical piece. Because of that inquiry, this piece has the potential to transform lives.
